Its only so often that you catch the first episode of a series and realize you just landed on one of your future favourite shows. It happened 2 years ago with ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and last year with ‘Happy Endings.’ I didn’t really get there this year, but I’m too hopeful to count these out.
3. Up All Night/The New Girl
The New Girl has the potential to be a little annoying, so lets just get that out of the way right now. I hope it doesn’t.
I so believe in the power of Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph. Only 2 episodes in and we’ve been given some Will Forte and Jorma Taccone. How can it lose? I’ll watch it until its off the air, even if it eventually falls flat. Of course, I said that about ‘Running Wilde’ and didn’t make it to the third episode (did Fox?)
2. The Secret Circle
I sincerely and unironically love Kevin Williamson teen dramas, The Craft and clever YouTube promos. I can look past the annoying theme song and the awful Fairuza-Balk-meets-Lucy-Hale actress because this show is guilty pleas’ at its best.
1. Pan Am
Pan Am is my favourite new series of the season!*
* Its not perfect. I’m really hoping that whole FBI/spy/unnecessary addition gets lost or killed off along the way because I love the fun, silly vibe of this show. I’m crossing my fingers that this show makes it and doesn’t go all ‘Bridget’ on me. Look at us! Inside jokes already – we’re so in love.
OMG, Hila, you are the bestest and most hilarious reviewer–you need to be doing this professionally!
Aaaah thanks Bev! Means so much coming from such a great writer!
I second that!
I think so too!
I agree!
i love pan am.. and im digging up all night so far.. i forgot about the secret circle but i only saw one commercial for it and it wasn’t enough to get me to search for it on my guide to PVR it.. but perhaps i will now…
I hope TV is always as respectful to you as you are to it. You love it like Kenneth Parcel does but with the insight of Jon Stewart and it’s a beautiful combination. hats off
I really liked the first episode of Pan Am, but you’re right, if the espionage goes from a 5 to a 10 on the espionage scale the show will be glee’d (technical term for when a good show kills itself).
The New Girl has potential to be better but it could also just get super douchey. I don’t know if I can handle Zooey’s bang covered puppy dog eyes for an entire season.
My game-plan is now to one day get cable in my Hamilton crib and then watch summa des shows. Sweet blog and awesome idea to start it, and also please explain why the girl in the header image (in the tv you’re holding) looks freakishly like you.
its Tina Fey aka Liz Lemon aka ME
Nice Job. I know this will insult you, but I don’t watch regular tv. I’ll have more insightful comments on your posts related to philosophy, technology and taekwondo.
